Blockchain · blockchain

A distributed, tamper-proof ledger that records transactions as a chain of blocks.

A blockchain is a distributed database in which information is stored in connected blocks, and each new block is verified based on the previous one; this same structure makes altering or deleting recorded information practically impossible.

This technology is the core foundation of cryptocurrencies, but its applications have also expanded into other fields like supply chains, electronic voting, and identity management.
