Cold Wallet · cold wallet

A wallet not connected to the internet, used for secure long-term storage of assets.

A cold wallet keeps an asset's private keys offline (such as on a dedicated hardware device, or even on paper), which gives it far greater security against online hacking attacks.

For long-term storage of significant amounts of digital assets, using a cold wallet is recommended over an internet-connected wallet.
